Compliance Letter

The government wants to improve services and supports for adults who have
developmental disabilities and their families.

It wants services and supports to:
• Be fair, so that everyone gets treated the same way
• Be flexible, so that services and supports better meet people’s needs, and
• Be here for the future.

To make these changes, the government passed the Services and Supports to
Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act,
2008. This new law will replace the Developmental Services Act, which was
put in place over 35 years ago.
