{"id":5991,"date":"2015-03-27T16:21:33","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T20:21:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.communitylivingnorthbay.org\/?page_id=42"},"modified":"2015-03-27T16:21:33","modified_gmt":"2015-03-27T20:21:33","slug":"community-alternatives","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/communitylivingnorthbay.org\/fr\/services\/community-alternatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Alternatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Community Alternatives\u00a0provide vocational\/pre-vocational education and community opportunities.<\/p>\n<h2>Adult Basic Education<\/h2>\n<p>In cooperation with the Near North District School Board, a teacher provides literacy, numeracy and job preparation skills for adults who have an intellectual disability.<\/p>\n<h2>Home Style Caf\u00e9<\/h2>\n<p>The Home Style Caf\u00e9 provides a teaching environment in the areas of serving customers, setting\/clearing tables, doing basic food preparation and baking.\u00a0\u00a0A full service restaurant and cafeteria provides these training opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to provide support to people in their pursuit of work experiences, paid employment, volunteering, or accessing community activities and opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>We strive to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage entrepreneurship through self-employment opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Foster and encourage relationships with co-workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We support people to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make informed career choices.<\/li>\n<li>Pursue gainful employment.<\/li>\n<li>Experience a variety of work experiences through career sampling.<\/li>\n<li>Become volunteers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community opportunities to people who choose non-vocational alternatives.<\/li>\n<li>Day supports for seniors.<\/li>\n<li>In-center pre-job placement education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Community Alternatives\u00a0provide vocational\/pre-vocational education and community opportunities.
