Successful candidates will work within policy governance to debate long-term goals for the organization. Interested parties may contact Jo-Anne Welton at<\/p>\n<p>705-494-8199 or\u00a0 <a href=\"mailto:tom.j.welton@gmail.com\">tom.j.welton@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Requirements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Board members will be required to attend a minimum of ten meetings a year. Meetings run from September to June and are held on the second Monday of each month from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.<\/li>\n<li>Persons elected to the board will be expected to serve for two years before re-election, and may ask to sit on a committee.<\/li>\n<li>Board members must be members of Community Living North Bay and those running for election must be members at least forty-five days (May 3) prior to the Annual General Meeting.<\/li>\n<li>The Annual General Meeting is held on the third Monday of June, where elections to the board take place.<\/li>\n<li>All persons running for a Director\u2019s position at the Annual General Meeting must be in attendance except for extenuating circumstances, as determined by the Board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A commitment to a diverse ownership and a willingness to seek, access and understand that diversity.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to see the big picture and focus on long-term impacts outside the organization.<\/li>\n<li>Capability to discuss values of the organization and govern by policy based on these values.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to delegate operational detail.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to deal with vision and long-term rather than day-to-day details.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to participate in deliberation while respecting the opinion of others.<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to honoring board decisions.<\/li>\n<li>Only makes judgments based on previously stated criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are currently looking for people that are interested in governing an organization that supports people with intellectual disabilities.
